The Importance of Patient Comfort in Orthodontics

As orthodontic hygienists, we often focus on the technical aspects of care, but I think we need to pay more attention to patient comfort. For instance, using softer toothbrushes can greatly reduce discomfort during treatment, as I learned at a recent seminar. I’m curious about what strategies everyone else has found effective to enhance patient experiences in our field.

I completely agree about patient comfort being key. From my experience, using a warm water rinse before starting can really help relax patients, especially the little ones. It’s simple but goes a long way in enhancing their experience during visits, right?

I found that offering a distraction, like a calming music playlist or even a video, can really ease anxiety for patients during procedures. It’s all about creating a more relaxed environment, right? Have you tried that in your practice?
