Keeping Kids Comfortable During Cleanings

I recently started using a new flavored toothpaste during our cleanings, and the kids absolutely love it! It really eases their anxiety and makes the whole experience more enjoyable for them. Has anyone else found creative ways to make dental visits less stressful for little ones?

I’ve found that letting kids pick a small toy or sticker after their cleaning really puts them at ease. It gives them something to look forward to, almost like a reward! Have you tried this approach?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

Using flavored toothpaste is a great idea! I also find that having a themed décor in the office, like a fun animal or superhero theme, can really distract kids during their cleanings. It takes their mind off the process.

I’ve had success with having a child-friendly ‘treasure chest’ filled with various small surprises they can choose from after their appointment. It definitely takes their mind off the cleaning! What kinds of flavors have the kids liked the most from your new toothpaste?

I love the idea of using flavored toothpaste; it reminds me of how kids can be bribed with candy. @bmartin67, have you ever tried incorporating fun music or sounds during the cleaning? It might keep their minds busy.
