Cordless prophy handpiece that keeps torque

I’ve been placing a new 10:1 cordless prophy handpiece in offices over the last month, and the consistent 2.0 N·cm torque means fewer stalls in heavy stain without over-pressuring the cup. If you keep rpm around 2,500–3,000 and use light, intermittent contact, are you noticing lower heat and splatter versus your wired units?

Feels like going from a corded drill to a solid cordless — heat and splatter dropped for me at 2,500–3,000 rpm when I half-load the cup with paste and add a drop of water… Small caveat: swap the battery around 30% because some ‘2.0 N·cm’ motors sag under load; are you running ribbed or vented cups, @OP?

On the 10:1 cordless with 2.0 N·cm I’m getting fewer stalls too, but sleeve drag is a sneaky torque killer — — so I leave a bit of slack at the nosecone and use low-friction disposable angles. At 2,500–3,000 rpm I’ll run a soft ribbed cup with feather taps for heavy stain, then drop closer to about 2,200 around line angles to keep heat and splatter down. Also keep the battery above 50% or swap mid-appointment; voltage sag makes you press harder and defeats the “light, intermittent contact” thing.
